So, let's say you get the most wonderful blessing of welcoming a 5-year-old little girl into your family. And let's say one of said 5-year-old little girl's favorite things to do is to play 'tea party.' What do you do?

Throw her a tea party, of course!!

Yes, just a short seven weeks ago, my husband and I were bestowed the amazing blessing of welcoming Little Miss H (as I refer to her here on the blog) into our home and family. She is a full-of-life, high-spirited, ever-active, sweet, kind, and loving little girl who has immediately stolen our hearts.

So how could I resist hosting the sweetest little Mother-Daughter tea party for this sweet little girl?

The short answer? ~ I couldn't.

After many a-nights of my husband and me being served pretend cups of tea after dinner, I decided it was time for Little Miss H to experience the real thing.

One afternoon after school, we invited a few friends and Grandma over, decked out the dining room in glittery pink and purple {in honor of Little Miss H's favorite colors, of course}, broke out the fine china tea cups, and had ourselves a lovely little classic afternoon tea ... mother-and-daughter style.

It was so sweet to see Little Miss H's excited anticipation of the party ... and so sweet to watch her enjoy it and take it all in!

Of course, no proper tea party is complete without tasty nibbles and a wonderful selection of teas, right? I served up a mix of some of our favorite savory and sweet little-bite treats ... Crescent Sausage Bites, Spinach Balls, Pound Cake Cookies, Chocolate Chess Pie Tartlets, and Little Miss's favorite Strawberry Cheesecake Strawberry Bites ... all accompanied by a fabulous selection of Lipton teas ...

Besides it's fabulous flavor, do you want to know what I love best about this Strawberry Tea Punch recipe? Little Miss H and I created the recipe together.

The Saturday afternoon before our tea party, Little Miss and I spent some time together testing out my tea punch ideas. We created small batches of four different punch ideas using Lipton's new black and herbal tea varieties, as well as one of their newly improved green teas ~ Orange Passionfruit Jasmine Green Tea. {Total yum, by the way! The bold flavors of Lipton's new teas most definitely put a refreshing spin on tea drinking.}

And let me just tell you, Little Miss is a recipe developer & taste-testing natural!

Besides it's fabulous flavor, do you want to know what I love best about this Strawberry Tea Punch recipe? Little Miss H and I created the recipe together.

She pulled her stepping stool right up to our kitchen island, asked to taste each ingredient on it's own before it was added to the punch, and tasted each punch every step of the way as we were creating it.

It was so sweet ~ We each had a tasting glass, and after the addition of each ingredient, I would scoop out a small spoonful into our tasting glasses. We'd take a sip ... and deliver our verdict ... "It's good," was usually Little Miss's assessment after the mixing of the first two ingredients.

After adding the next ingredient, I'd get an emphatic "Better." After the next? ... a resounding "Even better!" A natural in the kitchen right there, I say.

Little Miss's absolute favorite, and the one we decided to serve at our tea party, was this Strawberry Tea Punch recipe ... made with frozen strawberry daiquiri mix, pink lemonade, and black tea.

With it's bold aroma and unique flavor twist on traditional black tea, we chose Lipton's Stirring Ceylon Black Tea as the base of our Strawberry Tea Punch.

Little Miss sure enjoyed helping create the recipe ... and then enjoyed sipping the punch from her china tea cup on the day of our party even more!

For those guests wanting a more traditional tea experience, we also served up Lipton's new Orange Passionfruit Jasmine Green Tea and Daring English Breakfast Black Tea in the "traditional" hot tea form ...

I think it's fair to say that Little Miss H thoroughly enjoyed her first "real thing" tea party ... and so did I.

I'm thrilled, blessed, and honored to have been able to share in the experience with her ... and look forward to enjoying many more mother-daughter tea parties with her. Real or pretend ... either way is fine with me ~ they're both wonderfully sweet and delicious experiences to share.
