How to Farm Star Coins | Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Basically Average (2024)

When it comes to playing any game players are going to want to get acquainted with the different sets of currency available to them and nothing is any different in a game like Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

As most people know, I have been playing this game since release and started streaming it on Twitch as soon as I could and I’m happy to announce that as I am publishing this article, I finally beat the game!

Truthfully the game was enjoyable and as I have said in a good portion of my guides, the game was very different than the previous iterations of Kirby, adding a great variety of gameplay elements including upgradable abilities and a whole new mode called Mouthful Mode (which allows you to absorb large objects in hopes of gaining new skills).

Throughout my gameplay I have come up with a couple of handy tricks that have made my run-through a lot smoother than I could have imagined. The best way to put it is, even though all of my abilities are fully upgraded and I have spent a reasonable amount of Star Coins on resources such as Attack Ups, I never ran out of Star Coins and felt very comfortable “wasting currency.”

While the amount of currency a player has is heavily going to depend on how much time they can play, there are a number of tips and tricks that a player will want to follow in order to be as efficient as possible and quite frankly, some of the ways a player might think are productive don’t actually yield a good amount of Coins, meaning that a player is essentially wasting time.

The following guide will take you through all of my opinions when it comes to farming Star Coins and I will cover various ideas based on where you are in the game. As players will have access to stronger Weapons/Abilities by the mid-to-late game, the process a player will want to take part in to farm will change, though at the end of the day the players preference will play a huge role in this.

How to Farm Star Coins | Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Basically Average (1)

PLAY ON WILD MODE

Unless you are completely new to a Kirby game or simply struggle with games like it, I strongly suggest that you only play on Wild Mode.

Wild Mode will always provide players with extra Star Coins each time they complete a map, though if you’re struggling with finishing levels or are dying a good amount in Wild Mode, just chill in Spring-Breeze mode.

Typically levels will give you at least 50 extra Star Coins for being in Wild Mode versus Spiring-Breeze mode, though this will depend on the level and rewards.

ALWAYS SEARCH THE WORLD MAP

One of the first discoveries I made while messing around was the fact that players will be able to locate a good amount of Star Coins in the world select area. Now, the amount of Star Coins is not going to out beat the amount of Star Coins you’re going to receive in a level, however, it is a good way to supplement your funds, especially in the early game.

As players hover around they will begin seeing “Search” prompts, though players should note that sometimes these are Star Coins and other times they are actually hidden Treasure Roads that would not unlock otherwise. Nonetheless, any time a player sees the Search prompt they should always take it, because no matter what the loot is going to be good.

Every time I entered a new area of the game I immediately searched the whole map, even the parts where levels hadn’t unlocked yet, meaning that I always had at least two Treasure Roads and had the opportunity to get a bit of extra Star Coins.

I would strongly recommend that players always do this between stages, especially if they have just unlocked a new stage, though this method will fall off relatively early once players are in the brunt of the game.

PLAY LEVELS UNTIL YOU COMPLETE ALL OF THE MISSIONS

Something that I’ve been stressing in the majority of my guides is how important Missions are, especially in the early game. Essentially players are going to want to rush the amount of Waddle Dees they rescue in order to unlock the various shops and while a player can speed through the whole story, players can essentially beat the whole game without having everything unlocked.

I’m going to be honest, if you rush your Waddle Dee rescues early, the rest of the game becomes a lot easier as many of the shops provide players with Food and Damage/Defense upgrades that make grinding on Wild Mode a lot simpler.

I’ll be upfront with you, the last few battles were very tough for me and I had to repeat boss battles multiple times in order to actually complete the game. While I can’t say that I’m the best gamer, I do feel like my skill is… Basically Average, so you may find the same issue.

Levels typically take between 8-15 minutes depending on how many quests a player is willing to complete over and over again, though players should note that they will receive extra Star Coins whenever they repeat a Mission, meaning that players who are trying to complete unfinished Missions would be encouraged to repeat already completed Missions to get a Red Star Coin or higher.

Players could potentially find levels that drop a good amount of Star Coins at the beginning of it and exit the level as soon as they get those Star Coins as players do not need to complete the level in order to get the Star Coins. I will say there are a few of these, but they are in the late game and players at that point would probably want to just farm the Colosseum.

Most players will typically farm the first level: Downtown Grasslands as they can get between 350-400 Coins within 8 minutes, being one of the most profitable ways to farm coins in the early game.

My favourite map to run admittedly is The Battle of the Blizzard Bridge as you can quickly finish it with good abilities and quite frankly, I love farming out bosses quick.

PLAY SOME MINI GAMES

I’m going to be upfront and say that I’m not typically the biggest fan of mini-games in Nintendo Games as I find them terribly gimmicky and not fun, though that is obviously not true for a great deal of players.

As players unlock Waddle Dees to help grow their town they will unlock more Mini-Games, being:

Waddle Dee Cafe: Help Wanted!

Flash Fishing

Tilt-and-Roll Kirby

The Colosseum

Of all of these mini-games, the one that provides the best results is the Waddle Dee Cafe: Help Wanted! Players can easily farm this for about 100-300 Star Coins, though this will depend on the players’ patience and how invested they are in the game.

The following are the average incomes from the Waddle Dee Cafe: Help Wanted!

Easy – Around 70 Star Coins in 50 seconds

Hustle – Around 120 Star Coins in 50 seconds

Frenzy – Around 190 Star Coins in 50 seconds

Flash Fishing is quite boring, though if you catch the biggest Fish you will get 500 Star Coins and Tilt-and-Roll Kirby is my least favourite mini-game as I’m not a huge fan of tilt mechanics. I’m also a player who admits that he loved every Kirby game he played minus Tilt ‘n’ Tumble, so the reminder that Tilt ‘n’ Tumble exists was the last thing that I wanted for myself.

The Colosseum is a decent way to farm Star Coins, though I’m going to admit that it is typically faster to farm Star Coins in levels in the early game, at least until you have your upgraded abilities, then players can farm the Colosseum relatively quickly in order to farm it efficiently.

If players are willing to sit quietly and farm Star Coins passively they can get between 600-700 Star Coins from the Fishing Pond. I just hate the idea of this and would rather be active. Players will need to make sure that they are getting consecutive catches for this to happen.

Admittedly, the Colosseum is going to be the best late-game area to farm, especially in the post-game when players unlock the ability to upgrade their abilities even further.

AVOID REPEATING BOSSES

At first I thought that a good strategy was to keep repeating bosses over and over again, but I actually found that the yield of Coins was significantly lower than simply completing a level. If you have the same idea as me, I would strongly suggest that you avoid making that choice as it is a bit of a waste of time.

Of course, if you love a Boss battle, go for it, but don’t expect to become rich anytime soon.

ALWAYS LOOK OUT FOR CODES

By far the most profitable and easiest way to get Star Coins is by grabbing Codes. Unfortunately, codes are only a single use, though if we know anything about Nintendo, they will continually drop codes until a game is dead.

While there are codes that are hidden all over Waddle Dee Town, players do not need to actually see them before they can input them. Nintendo also drops a good amount of codes on their social media.

If you’re interested in knowing what codes are available to them please feel free to check out my guide, which will be updated any time a new code pops up.

CONCLUSION

While in the early game players are simply going to want to grind out Coins by searching the World and repeating levels until they have successfully completed all of the Missions, players will want to shift their focus soley on the Colosseum.

The Colosseum itself has the highest rewards, however it can get a bit daunting to repeat it over and over again. I personally rotate between the Colosseum and The Battle of the Blizzard Bridge, though this will completely depend on a player’s preference.

But I’m curious, what is your favourite way to farm out Star Coins? Do you feel like you’re struggling or do you always have just enough to upgrade your abilities?
