  • Place your finger on the 3rd string. The G string. At the second fret.
  • Put your second finger on the 1st string. (E string). Also on the second fret.

  • Strum from the 4th string down. Don’t play the 5th or 6th string.

E Major Chord Finger Position

  • When strumming the E chord you can strum all the strings.

How to Play the C#m Chord

  • Place your first finger at the 4th fret across the first 5 strings.
  • Your second finger is on the B string. (2nd String). At the 5th fret.
  • Next place your third finger on the 4th string. Which is the D string. At the 6th fret.
  • Then your pinkie is under that finger. Put it on the 3rd string. Also at the 6th fret.

Playing the B Chord

  • Place your first finger at the 2nd fret of the 5th string. (A string).
  • Your third finger is on strings 4, 3, and 2, at the 5th fret.
  • Don’t play the E string. (6th string).

Chord Progression to Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground

The song starts with A D A and E. Then C#m D B and E. Next is A C#m D B and E. and then these chords are played before the solo. A C#m D A E and A. After the solo the chords are: A C#m D B, and E. And then A C#m D A and E, and that repeats. A C#m D A and E. Then the outro is A D A A. One thing to remember. This song is played at a slow tempo.

How to Play Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground

When playing the Chords you are going to pick the bass note of the chord. Then strum the chord. Playing the A chord. The bass note of the A chord is the A string. Which is the 5th string. Set up your fingers in position to play the A chord. Then Pick the A string. (5th string). And strum down one time on the A chord.

After that you want to repeat the same thing. Pick the A string open. And strum down one time on the A chord. Pick the A string open again. After that the chord progression goes to the C#m.

Playing the C#m in Angel flying Too Close to the Ground

Set up your hand to play the C#m. Play the Bass note. Which you are going to pick the 5th string. Strum the C#m. Just strum down one time. And then you pick the 5th string and strum down again. Then pick the 5th string and move to play the D chord.

Pick the B note. Which to make it easy pick the A string. Then strum. You do this three times. then on the third time. Pick the Bass note of the B chord 2 times. Which is picking that A string 2 times. Strum the B chord, and Pick the A string again. Then the progression goes to the E chord.

Pick the Bass E note in the E chord. Which is picking the open E string. The 6th string. Strum the E chord. We are just strumming down one time. Then you are going to pick the E string 3 times. And strum the E chord. What I would recommend is picking up and down on the E string. Because it is easier when picking so many notes.

Walking Up to the A chord in Angel flying Too Close to the Ground

Pick the E string and Strum the E chord. Then there is a walk up back to the A chord. Which is played by picking the open E string, strum the E chord. Pick the open E string. Use your first finger. Place it on the second fret of the E string. And pick the E string. Then use your third finger. Place it on the fourth fret. On the E string. Play the E string.

Play the Open A string. And strum the A Chord. Do this two times. Next play the open A string. Place your first finger at the fourth fret. On the A string and pick the string. Then place the rest of your fingers to make the chord C#m chord. Strum the chord. Do this two times. After that pick the A string again. When your still playing the C#m. Then move to play the D chord.

Picking the open D string. And strumming the D chord. Do that two times. Then on the third time. Pick the D string 2 times. Then strum the D chord. Pick the D string again. Walk up to the B chord. Like I mentioned earlier. Picking the 4th and 3rd fret of the A string. Landing on the B at the 2nd fret. Playing the B bass note, and the B chord.

The B Chord

You are going to play the B chord. Picking and strumming it 3 times. Then picking the B note two times. Strum the B chord. Holding your first finger on the B Note. Play the B string. Then pick the open E String. Play the E chord. Then Play the open E string, picking it 3 times. Strumming the E chord one time. Now Pick the E string three more times.

Use your first finger. Fretting the 2nd fret on the 6th string. Pick the E string two times. Move up a half step. To the 3rd fret and pick the E string two more times.

Move to the 4th fret and fretting it. Pick the E string two more times. Play the open A string. Strum the A chord. Play that two times. Pick the open A string. Move to the C#m. Pick the A string and strum the C#m. You pick and strum the C#m two times through. Pick the A string again. Position your hand to play the D chord.

D Arpeggiated Chord

Pick the open D string. Strum the D chord. Perform that two times. Then while still fretting the D chord. You are going to arpeggiate the chord. You are going to pick these 3 strings two times. In this order 1, 2, 3. After playing those strings two times through. Play the A chord. First pick the A string and strum the A chord. Pick and strum the A chord two times through. Pick the open A string and then the E string. Move to strum the E chord.

Pick the E string strum the E chord. A total of 2 times. Pick the open E string. Pick the open A string. Strum the A chord. Play the chord again. Pick the open E string.

Then there is a solo. This song has a lot of picking, and walk ups, using single notes. Be sure to get the Tab.

Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground Solo

The solo starts on the B string. The 2nd string at the 5th fret. Use your first finger and fret the 5th fret. Your going to use up and down picking. Pick these frets 5, 7, and 9. When fretting the 5th fret use your first finger. Place your third finger on the 7th fret and pick the B string. Then move to the 9th fret. Once you’ve covered it. Pick the B string again.

Move to the 10th fret. Your still on the B string. Either use your third finger or your pinkie to fret the 10th fret. Picking the 10th fret 6 times. Using Alternate picking. Go back and pick the 9th fret one time. Then go back to the 5th fret. And fret the 5th fret. Picking the B string 3 times.

After that with your 3rd finger. Fret the 7th fret of the D string. The 4th string. Use your pinkie to fret the 7th fret on the B string. The second string. Pick the D string and then the B string. Using Alternate picking, pick the D string 3 times. Next pick the B string. Your pinkie is still at the 7th fret.

Use Vibrato inAngel Flying Too Close to the Ground Solo

After that move to the 9th fret of the B string. Pick the B string. Move to the 10th fret. Still on the B string. Pick the B string. Then fret the 7th fret on the B string. Play the B string. End at the 5th fret of the B sting. Using Vibrato at the 5th fret. And picking the B string.

Next I use my third finger to cover the G and D string. Fretting at the 7th fret. Or you could use your 3rd finger on the D string. And your pinkie on the G string. You want to pick the D and the G string in this order. First pick the D string. And then pick the G string 3 times.

Next pick the D G, D G. On the G string move up a fret. Fretting the 6th fret. And picking the G string. Then move to the 4th fret. On the G string. The 3rd string. Picking the G string 3 times.

Then on the Low E string. Play the E string open. Picking the E string 3 times. After that pick these three notes consecutively. Use your first finger. Place it on the high E string. The 1st string. At the 5th fret. Play the 1st string. Rolling your first finger up to the second string. Fret the B string. At the 5th fret. Play the B string.

After that use your 2nd finger to fret the G string. At the 6th fret. And play the 3rd string.

The Second Part of the Solofor Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground

Next there is a walk up that starts on the E string. Start with picking the open 6th string. Playing it 3 times. Use your first finger to fret the 2nd fret of the E string. Playing the E string two times. Move up a fret. To the 3rd fret. Play the E string 2 times. And then fret at the 4th fret of the E string. Pick the E string one time.

After the walk up your going to place your finger at the 7th fret. On the D string. Using alternate picking, Play the D string. Picking it 6 times. Wait a second and pick 3 more times. Your still on the D string. Move back to the 6th fret. Picking the D string. Use vibrato when fretting the string. Then pick the D string 2 times.

Next move to the 4th fret. On the D string. Pick it 1 time and then 2 more times. Go back to the 6th fret. On the D string. Pick it. Go up a fret to the 7th fret. Where you pick the D string again. Going back to the 6th fret. Pick the 4th string again. Go back to the 4th fret on the D string. Fret the 4th fret and pick the D string. Then go to the 2nd fret of the D string. Fret the 2nd fret and pick the D string 3 times.

Still Playing the Solo

Now we are going to be playing the A string for a while. Playing the open A string 5 times, and then another 3 times. Then use your third finger to fret the 4th fret of the A string. Picking the 5th string 3 times. Move back a fret. To the 3rd fret, and pick the 5th string 3 times. Again move back to the 2nd fret. Fret the 2nd fret and pick it.

Move down a string. To the E string. The 6th string. Pick the 6th string 3 times. Play the open E string again picking 3 times. Place your first finger on the 2nd fret of the 6th string. Pick the E string 2 times. Go to the 3rd fret. Use your second finger and fret the 3rd fret. Play the E string 2 times. Fret the 4th fret. On the E string and pick it 2 times.

How to Play Angel Flying Too Close to the GroundAfter the Solo

The Next chord that is played is the A chord. Remember to first pick the A string open and strum the A chord. You are playing this 2 times. The second time you actually pick the open A string 2 times. Then move to the next chord in the progression. Which is the C#m. Pick the open A string and make the C#m finger position.

Pick the A string and then strum the chord. You do this 2 times. Pick the A string and move to play the D string, Picking the open D string and strumming the D chord. Pick the open 4th string two times. Then strum the D. Do that two times through.

Another walk up

Pick the open D string, go to the A string. Fret the 4th fret then pick the A string. Next fret the 3rd fret on the A string. Picking the A string. Then fret the 2nd fret of the A string. Play the 5th string. Strum the B chord. Pick the A string two more times. Your hand should still be making a B chord. Strum the B. Do this 2 times through. Pick the A string again.

Play the open E string. Strum the E chord. Again pick the open E string. This time for 6 times. Fret the E string at the 2nd fret. Playing the E string 2 times. Move up a fret to the 3rd fret. Then pick the E string 2 more times. Fret the 4th fret on the low E string. Picking the E string two times.

Then Play the open A string. Strum the A chord. Do this two times through. Play the open A string Place your fingers to play the C#m chord. Pick the A string, and strum the C#m chord. Next play the A string again for two times. Then strum the C#m. Play the A string one more time.

Arpeggiate the D

Move to the D chord. Pick the open D string. And strum the D chord. Do that two times through. Then arpeggiate the D chord. Playing strings 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3.

Next play the A string open. And strum the A string, Play the A two times through. Pick the A string, and then the E string. And strum the E chord. Play the E chord two times through. The next chord in the progression is the A chord again. Playing the open A string and strumming the A chord.

Then there is a walk up to A.

Pick the open E string two times. Place your first finger on the 2nd fret of the E string. Pick the E string. Place your third finger on the fourth fret of the E string. Pick the E string.

Now we are back to the A chord. Which you play two times. Go to the C#m chord play it two times. The next chord in the progression is the D chord. Play it two times and then arpeggiate it. Playing strings 1 2 3. Three times. Play the A 2 times and then the E chord two times. Back to the A chord. Then Strum the D chord down up up down down. Back to the A chord, and strum down 4 times.

This song is really not that hard to play. But because it has a lot of pieces to it. Take each part and break it down. Until you are able to play it. Then move on to the next part. Before you know it you will be playing the song.
