Did you know that ‘Ventura’ means ‘chance’ or ‘fortune’? And you happen to be in luck because there are so many destinations to discover with this fun, all-rounder of a ship. She can take you on a Short Break across to Amsterdam or Bruges and Hamburg to relax or revive. She can show you the sights of Spain and Portugal with full days in bucket list locations like Lisbon, Portugal’s capital ‘city of the seven hills’. She’ll sail you down to the Canary Islands for some glorious winter sunshine. She’ll even cross the Atlantic and back for 35 nights around the Caribbean, calling at tropical islands and paradise beaches, with some stunning USA highlights too.

So Ventura really gets around! She’s everywhere with everything going on for all the family: round-the-clock free entertainment with live music, comedy, quizzes, magic - you name it! There’s free sports facilities on Sports Deck 17, free salsa and line dancing classes with expert instructors, four swimming pools and six whirlpool spas and a hi-tech free gymnasium. Exercising or joining a free fitness class in the spacious well-equipped gym right under the Bridge with incredible views of the ocean ahead makes for the most memorable of workouts. You’ll never be stuck for something to do or new things to try out and keep active on board Ventura.

Maybe duty-free shopping or browsing the art gallery is your idea of heaven? Slink off to the library or a sun lounger and lose yourself in a good book. See what shows or talks are on offer (we took our seats in the sweeping two-deck Arena Theatre for a Q&A with a guest speaker, you’ll usually catch a live music show, talk or comedian in here). Ventura has a free sauna and steam room as well as the Oasis Spa and Retreat for a little extra. You can of course take time out in the comfort of your own cabin with hundreds of channels and films to choose from and room service to satisfy your cravings.

Can your family keep up?
When the Horizon newspaper arrives in your cabin listing everything to do on board the next day, it can be tricky making a plan – and we can only be in one place at one time, right? Luckily, there’s enough activities to go round and ensure everyone has a chance to try something new and fun so you won’t miss out, don’t worry!
Elaine, who travelled on Ventura said, 'My very competitive family had a running Shuffleboard tournament out on Sun Deck 16 and played some fast and furious table tennis overlooking the central Beachcomber Pool with its retractable roof and whirlpools.'
"On the Sports Court we took Archery lessons from the friendly instructor and we played games of tennis and basketball five-a-side with another family. A great way to meet new people and burn off some energy whilst underway to the next destination!"

All food is included in an excellent choice of Freedom and Club Dining. The beautifully named Bay Tree, Saffron and Cinnamon restaurants have delicious menus for every taste in sophisticated settings. The Waterside lays on an impressive buffet spread throughout the day and into the night and theBeach Houseoffers a delicious menu including lobster tail hanging kebabs and lava rock beef fillets. You’ll find fab food for a few extra pounds paired with the perfect wine chosen by Olly Smith in the Glass House. You can enjoy a casual coffee break at Tazzine or the ice cream bar. There’s plenty of places for an informal drink such as the Red Bar or Breakers where there’s often family fun in the form of a music quiz, karaoke and buskers playing well-known songs. Get cosy in the low lighting, lush velvet seating and warm rich colours of The Tamarind Club are very inviting for an everchanging variety of comedy, quizzes, game shows and music performances.

Ventura’s Ace for kids
The Reef children’s club, Night Nursery and children’s daily tea are an absolute dream for Mums and Dads who deserve time to enjoy their holiday as humans as well as parents. Our kids liked popping into the Video Game Arcade trying to beat various high scores. There’s giant chess, deck quoits, golf and footy nets as well as archery and basketball.

When the kids are busy in The Reef, why not try your luck in Fortunes Casino or indulge in a treatment at Oasis Spa & Salon? You can chill out for a little extra in the Thermal Suite or The Retreat and Wellness Spa terrace, with some exclusively for adults quiet, quality pampering time.
