As you guys know, C and I take a pretty active, hands-on approach to everything in our lives. From work to play and everything in between, we like to get out there and get our hands, feet and whatever else dirty in the name of living life to the fullest. And that goes double when summer hits, and we spend the majority of our time outside finding all sorts of fun to get into. I’ve been this way since I was a little girl scraping, cutting, and bruising my way through every summer adventure I could find. Though my thirst for some good old fashioned, sun-soaked summer adventure remains the same, I’ve learned over time that I don’t have to suffer to soak in this special season and thoroughly enjoy all of the summer activity I love. Now, I know exactly how to arm myself. One of the things that’s a little bit different about this summer’s Bucket List is that we’re dedicating quite a bit of space on our list to some of the DIY projects we’ve been dying to take on, all of which we’ll have the pleasure of tackling out in the fresh air under the summer sun in our backyard. Now that’s my idea of heaven – the perfect summer playlist, the sun shining and a little elbow grease to continue to make our house the cozy home we love. In the last few months, I’ve had the opportunity to take an even deeper dive into my passion for DIY home projects, which has me looking at the summer season with DIY stars in my eyes! As you guys know well, I’ve always had a passion for design-focused DIY home decor projects and crafts of all kinds, but always stopped short of projects that required utilizing more intimidating tools like saws, nail guns, compressors and more because 1) They veered outside of my comfort zone and 2) I didn’t feel like I understood the ins and outs of said tools well enough to translate that into easily consumable and relatable tutorials for you guys, and that just won’t do. Luckily, I got to spend a ton of time this spring hunkering down at home with my parents and working on our DIY office siding project (which I can’t wait to show you guys), and because of that had the opportunity to learn so much from them about home improvement and the tools that open up a world of home improvement possibilities, which in turn opened my eyes to a seemingly infinite universe of fun, slightly more involved DIY projects.
Of course, there are tons of other new and exciting activities just waiting to be conquered on our summer bucket list that are all fun, no work required, which is what summer’s all about, right? Variety is the spice of life, and I fully intend on keeping this summer spicy!
